The design of
the landscape for this waterfront vacation home
displays a fine balance between creating useable
space for the homeowner and preserving a natural
edge along the waterfront.
Architectural
forms are repeated throughout the landscape to give
order and define spaces. Pennsylvania
bluestone, a material featured prominently on the
house, is used to accent a Wilkeson sandstone patio
and walkways. A lawn space that can be used to
enjoy a summer day, an evening sunset, or good
company flows from patio. Native plants on the
slope leading down to the bulkhead provide seasonal
color and erosion control.
Because space is
at a premium on this property, Studio 342 took
advantage of every possible nook and cranny, and
paid close attention to the smallest details. From
the stainless steel cable trellis at the entry to
the main path to the backyard that ends in steps
planted with Irish Moss, the details are what make
this project sing.
