342 worked with the Friends of Prentis
Frazier Park and the Seattle Parks
Department to create a new Master Plan for
this existing Capital Hill neighborhood
park.
The Master Plan created a more inviting
entrance from 24th while also improving the
basketball hoop and paved area adjacent to
the existing play structure. A new bench was
placed near the entrance along with a large
flat rock “Coffee table” to serve as a front
porch to the neighborhood. A low concrete
seatwall was designed to encompass the
basketball area as well as provide seating
and retaining for the steep slopes behind
the wall. The seating area was designed with
a subtle checkerboard pattern and the new
picnic tables were fitted with game-board
tops to allow for neighborhood checker and
chess matches.
The design was completed with new native
plantings on the steep slopes as well as new
garden trees planted in an arc to provide
color and serve as a backdrop for the
revamped entry. |
