An
international development company purchased
a large apartment complex renovated the
complex into condominium homes. Studio 342
Landscape Architecture was hired to create a
design that integrated the landscape areas
of the property into the new architectural
style of the condominiums.
The concept for the condominium complex was
to transform the condos and grounds to
resemble the colonial style of the Kentucky
Bluegrass region. Studio 342 designed a
master plan that added brick lined walkways
& landings, white cross-buck style fencing,
and colorful plantings to the existing
infrastructure. Plant species were carefully
chosen to provide all-season interest
throughout the complex and to strengthen the
overall concept. The main entrance was
renovated with large brick entry monuments
set in lush planting beds accented with
colorful perennial beds. An existing sport
court was updated with new fencing and
screen plantings, and broken paver fire
lanes were replaced with large swaths of
reinforced lawn. The architectural style of
the condominiums coupled with the new
landscape features evoke the original
bluegrass region concept the property owners
desired.
